‘The Down Hill Only Club’ (DHO) , founded in Wengen in the Jungfrau Region of the Swiss Bernese Oberland in 1925 could be found last weekend at the Battersea Evolution, located in the heart of London’s stunning Battersea Park for this year’s annual Ski & Snowboard Show. The DHO joined ‘Euro Airport’ and ‘Ferretti Tourism’ on their high profile stand at the entrance of the show. It was great to meet the ‘Skiset Wengen’ team as well as Sean McCarthy from the ‘Swiss Ski School Wengen’ and Alan Norris who owns the ‘Hotel Caprice’ in Wengen. The stand offered all the information necessary for anyone looking to holiday in the Jungfrau Region this coming season.
As a Marketing intern here at Clearsilver it was my first chance to see one of the charity brands that we support first hand. It just so happens that I am an extremely keen skier and last season had the amazing opportunity to spend 6 months in the Italian Alps. So this was a field trip I was very keen to get involved with. A quick two hour train down to London and we arrived at the venue. The outdoor area was buzzing, several après style bars bearing huge fire pits blasting some classic après music, very tempting for anyone looking to enjoy a hot cup of mulled wine. Many of the team GB stars were showcasing some amazing skills on the outdoor ‘Mount Battersea’, which created a great sporty atmosphere amongst the ice-skating ring. There was rows of vintage ski suits, which I must admit were hard to resist, vintage and colour is very in this year on the slopes.
We had the pleasure of joining some of the DHO team to promote the fantastic opportunities they offer to all skiers. Experienced or not, the DHO offers a fabulous opportunity to experience the Swiss Alps like you never have before. There are many benefits on offer to members, skiing throughout the area with the DHO’s own ski leaders, free of charge. And you can join in DHO member-only ski races throughout the season. Not forgetting of course the lovely large & comfortable club room with free Wifi access that’s perfect to catch up with everyone after a long day on the mountain to meet friends old and new and enjoy the après! Take a look at www.downhillonly.com to see the long list of fabulous benefits of joining the club.
