High Heel-a-thon is back for 2010!

High Heel-a-thon is a unique event where women and some intrepid men, will slip in to their favourite heels to raise money for an incredibly worthy charity. On Sunday 26th September 2010 this year’s event will take place to raise money for Yorkshire Cancer Research. The route will start and finish at the Victoria Quarter, who are working alongside us to host this fantastic event in celebration of their 20th Anniversary.

As the name suggests, this is a fun run (or walk!) with a twist - all participants must at least begin and finish the High Heel-a-thon in their heels. However, for those who can't make it all the way round in heels they are permitted to take them off for the majority of the course!

We are asking for just a £10 entrance fee (which covers entrance admin and the cost of your very fetching event t-shirt) and then to raise as much money as you can for Yorkshire Cancer Research. There will be a number of spectacular prizes on the day for the highest heels, best dressed contestant and the finest customised t-shirt among others. We are particularly keen to see company teams taking part.

High Heel-a-thon will begin outside the Victoria Quarter in Leeds with the 1.5 mile route navigating around the city centre, taking in Briggate, The Headrow, Park Square and Commercial Street before returning to the Victoria Quarter- but the day does not end there! The afternoon will be filled with fun, prizes, family activities and much more!

In 2009 we helped Breast Cancer Haven raise just under £20,000 to cover the cost of one year’s reflexology therapy, allowing them to continue to provide complementary therapies for their visitors. Additionally the event gained over £500,000 of media coverage.

This exclusive event promises to be an exciting day out with those participating receiving a goody bag with lots of fantastic treats as well as the chance to rub shoulders with some very special celebrity guests! Register now to be the first to hear about this year’s guests as they are announced!
