In 2018, ASDA launched its Innovation Awards, created to recognise and reward excellence in new product development.

Aiming to position ASDA as the ‘House of New’ in UK grocery retail, the digital team at Clearsilver Brand Marketing has been involved since the awards’ inception - creating and constructing the web solution to enable ASDA shoppers to vote in their tens of thousands across categories including Health and Beauty, Baby & Toddler, Fresh and Frozen, Food Cupboard, Treats and Snacks, Drinks, Chilled Food, Drinks, Beers Wines and Spirits as well as – new for 2019 – three own label categories.

Actress and comedian Sally Phillips, of Smack the Pony, Miranda and Bridget Jones’s Diary fame, was a fabulous – and hilarious – speaker, setting the mood perfectly for the evening before the 2019 Awards were announced.

The overall winner of the evening was Gü ‘Fabulously Free From Chocolate & Vanilla Cheesecakes’!

In the Baby & Toddlers sector, parents voted for BEAR Paws Mango & Carrot Pure Fruit & Veg shapes.

With great food and drinks brand winners including Innocent’s Bolt from the Blue, MALTESERS® Truffles, Kelloggs No Added Sugar Cocoa & Hazelnut Granola, Kinder Bueno Ice Cream Cone and Thatchers Rosé Cider. Non-food brand winners include Simple’s Kind to Skin Biodegradable Cleansing Face Wipes, Dettol Biodegradable Multi Surface Wipes and pet lovers up and down the country voted Butcher's Dog Food Tins in 100% recyclable cardboard as their winner.

In the own label category, ASDA’s Extra Special Bake in the Box Belgian Chocolate & Salted Caramel Brownie (one of our family faves!), ASDA Shades Power Towels XL and lastly - ASDA Unicorn Ice Cream – Clearsilver Kathryn’s very own favourite treat of the summer!

More than 90,000 consumers entered this year’s ASDA Innovation Awards, casting over 350,000 votes– a true testament to ASDA’s commitment to supporting and driving innovation.
